Higher Education Programme

Fees and funding 2012

Higher education funding is changing from 2012 and Circus Space, along with all the affiliate schools of the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama, is working to ensure that our courses remain accessible to all students and that we continue to recruit on the basis of talent alone.

If you are applying to a Circus Space course in 2012, detailed information about fees and financial support for your training is available on the Conservatoire website. You can also download the Conservatoire’s leaflet: Fees and Financial Assistance 2012-13.

Fees for UK/EU students applying for the Foundation or BA Hons Degree in Circus Arts are set at £9,000 per year. If you are new to higher education, you can apply for a tuition fee loan from the Government and you will not have to pay anything up front. You won’t have to pay back your loan until after you have graduated and are earning over £21,000.

Our students may be eligible for the following financial support:

  • Government loans to cover tuition fees and living costs (through Student Finance England)
  • Government maintenance grants to help with living costs, for students from a household income of below £42,875 – you don’t have to pay this back
  • Conservatoire Scholarships – many students will be eligible for fee discounts and will not have to pay the full £9,000
  • Career and Professional Development Loans, for students who already have a degree

Student Finance England

In order to apply for a Conservatoire Scholarship [and/or a school bursary], you will need to be income assessed by Student Finance England. However, because this is a new system, it is likely that you will not be able to apply for income assessment or for a student loan before February 2012.

This will not affect your application. For this year, if we need you to fill in alternative financial information to enable us to consider you for financial support, we will let you know. We are trying to let all applicants to whom we offer a place know the financial arrangements before they accept.
