Sophie Avigdor

Before appearing at The Circus Space, Sophie trained as an aerialist in Montreal with 'Les Gens d' R'. Since she was a child growing up in Switzerland, she has experienced various dance, theatre and circus activities. Sophie has now specialised in contortion and would like to combine her skills with dance and theatre. Her dream would be to create a company with like minded people and tour around the world!

After studying literature and dance in France, she exiled herself to London to do the Degree course at Circus Space. Having to make a choice between aerial and acrobatic, she finally chose tightwire as her speciality. After the Degree course, she would like to keep training tightwire, to be able to combine it with other skills. Eventually, her wish is to be part of a company.

Matt is 26 and comes from a small town in Surrey. When growing up his dream jobs were Stuntman, Boxer, priest and Super-Hero.
Before joining the degree course Matt had spent 4 years as a piano restorer in his hometown. Acrobatics was a natural progression and the transition has been interesting.

After training in Art and Drama in Italy Elisa moved to London where she studied physical theatre and contemporary Circus at The Circus Space. She loves juggling, jumping around and dangling from a rope.

   

 


Andrea Gaechter

At the age of seven, Andrea's greatest wish was to become a circus performer. Many years later, she left Switzerland do the degree course at The Circus Space. She is specialising in Corde Lisse and is particularly interested in using the floor also. After the degree course, she would like to work both as a member of a small company and on her own.

   

 

 

 

Timothy Lenkiewicz

Whilst studying at the University of Edinburgh, Tim Lenkiewicz discovered Circus. He worked with the 'Beltane Fire Society' and 'tePOOka@ theatre company before leaving Scotland to seek his fortune in London. At The Circus Space he has specialised in acrobatics and continued to develop his juggling. Circus aside, Tim has played the guitar for many years and is a competent musician; he also has an interest in fashion and makes many of his own clothes and costumes. At the moment he is looking into furthering his circus training.

Annette Fiaschi

Prior to starting the degree course at The Circus Space - Annette trained in acrobalance with the 'Duo Scacciapensieri' in Switzerland for two years. She attended theatre workshops with Desmond Jones and Philippe Gaulier and performed as an acrobat in 'Cavalleria Rusticana' and 'I Pagliacci' with Opera Jigsaw. During the course Annette has specialised in hand balancing and acrobatics. She would like to combine these skills with theatre, dance and playing live music, working as a solo performer as well as a member of a small company.

Grainne Kearney

Prior to starting the BA at The Circus Space, Grainne did a 1-yr Dance foundation course, specialising in ballet, jazz and contemporary dance. She also has experience of working in Europe with, and alongside small theatre based companies. She has appeared in numerous pop videos, commercials and fashion shows. Grainne is currently singing in a band in which she is the lead vocalist. Grainne specialises in Acrobatics, and her ambition is to continue her exploration into Circus, Theatre and Movement.

David is a crazy juggler and a circus lover. He is 26 years old and comes from Galicia (Spain). He started as a street performer and got interested in circus. Whilst working as a clown he decided to study circus. Despite his background he discovered his real passion during the course - Juggling! He is interested in the integration of acrobatics, flamenco dancing and juggling.

   

 

 

Amber Noble

Amber Noble is 20 years old and lives in Hertfordshire. She has a background in artistic gymnastics and amateur dramatics. During the degree course she has joined forces with Gemma Mawson on the integration of acrobalance and movement. The pair plan to continue working together after the completion of the degree.

Gemma Mawson is 20 years old and comes from Somerset. She has a background in contemporary dance and is a keen surfer. During the course she has joined forces with Amber Noble on the integration of acrobalance and movement. The pair plan to continue working together after the degree.

   

 

 

Alice Newton

Alice Newton was brought up in mid-Wales. Her interests in performance and circus were discovered whilst at school and at various festivals. Alice is an experienced performer who has been training and developing her skills for nine years. She has successfully completed a number of courses including the 'Circomedia' course in Bristol, and a HND in Physical Theatre in Brighton. She specialises in Tissu and Corde Lisse. She enjoys fusing her many skills together. She intends to work both as a solo artist and in a small company both at home and abroad.

Lucie comes from Switzerland and she is 23 years old. She put one finger into circus in geneva circus's school in 1996 and finally dived into it! After a few workshops here and there, some tightwire, rope and triangle trapeze, she came in Circus Space where she specialised in cloudswing. She would love to join companies and experience the circus world, and maybe, one day she'll have her own company with friends.

   

 

 

Sam Hague

Sam is 26 and was raised in Devon. While travelling around the world he became interested in circus and a life as a performer. He started acrobatic classes at The Circus Space and progressed to the degree course. Since then he has worked on his personality and has had some success as a juggler and acrobat - he performs in an acrobatic juggling duo called Stiffy and Lanky.

   

 

 


Stewart Pemberton

Stewart trained as a performance lighting technician in Liverpool and during his time as a student, learned how to juggle as therapy to aid his studies. As his juggling improved and his technical employment took him on tour with the Moscow Circus on Ice, Stewart's interest in circus arts developed. After running away from traditional circus Stewart came to The Circus Space to develop his performance and has formed a juggling, acrobatic and theatre duo with Sam Hague entitled Stiffy and Lanky.
