Overview
If you want to learn flying trapeze, tight-wire walking, stilt-walking, juggling, static aerial skills, acrobatics, rope or tissu then you’ve come to the largest and most extensive adult circus learning programme in the UK. These courses have been designed to take you from entry as a complete novice to a competent level in two circus skill areas and where you will be able to create and perform your own work. These courses are great fun and are open to all ages from 18 and above and of all abilities.Click here to download this information in a printable version.

> Tissu / SilksAs well as these skills all students will gradually be encouraged to explore new ways of interacting with equipment in a circus context, tutored in various ways of performing and how to interact with fellow students and audiences alike. All of these courses are delivered by experienced teachers and taught in a supportive and controlled environment.
Prerequisites
Please note that prior to signing up to the first course all new students must complete an Introduction to Circus Skill Workshop first. For further information about these workshops click here. Once you’ve completed an Introduction to Circus Skill Workshop you can then place your name on the Circus Arts Preparatory Course interest list. We will then email you when the next course is starting and details of how to book a space, along with further information about these courses.The Circus Art Courses run on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday evenings between 7 and 10pm.

Time: 7.00-10.00pm
Course length: 10-weeks
Price: £285 full / £195 concession / £110 Scholarship
Entry Criteria: Have completed an Introduction to Circus Skill Workshop at TCS and is injury freeThis course is for complete novices who have no previous circus skill experience apart from an Introduction course at TCS or a similar course elsewhere.
As part of this course you will be introduced to Flying trapeze, static trapeze, tight-wire walking, stilt-walking, acrobatic balancing, double Dutch, acrobatic tumbling, handstands and juggling. This course has been designed to enable you to experience a variety of skills, whilst starting to prepare you physically for learning circus as an ongoing recreational activity.
The overall aim of this course is to start developing students understanding of:
> What learning each skill entails
> The course structures and ongoing learning opportunities
> Your physical strengths and abilities
> The physicality and commitment required to learn circus
> The basic physical shapes / terms needed to learn circus
> Safe practice and awareness

Circus Arts Familiarisation Course (Level 2)
Time: 7.00-10.00pm
Course length: 10-weeks
Price: £300 full / £205 concession / £115 Scholarship
Entry Criteria: Have completed the Circus Arts Preparatory Course or a similar circus course elsewhere and is injury freeFollowing the Preparatory course students will progress onto the 15-week Familiarisation Course. On the Familiarisation course under the guidance of the teaching team students will specialise in two circus skill groups from the following:
> Acrobatics (Balancing, Tumbling, hoop-diving, double Dutch etc.)
> Aerial (Flying, Static, Rope etc.)
> Juggling / Equilibristics (Tight-wire, Stilts, Hula-hoop, Juggling etc.)This course has been designed to enable students to spend longer exploring two skill groups prior to specialising in two specific circus skills for the remaining courses.
Circus Arts Specialisation Courses (Levels 3-6)
Time: 7.00-10.00pm
Course length: 10-weeks
Level 3 Price: £340 full / £240 concession / £130 Scholarship
Level 4-6 Prices: £360 full / £255 concession / £140 Scholarship
Entry Criteria: Have completed the Circus Arts Familiarisation Course or have a reasonable level of circus skill learning in two skill areas and is injury freeFollowing the successful completion of the Familiarisation Course students will then graduate onto a Specialisation Course where they will specialise in two circus skill areas (E.g. Tight-wire walking & Flying trapeze or Static Aerial and Juggling). In total there will be a series of three 15-week Circus Art Specialisation courses, which will enable you to specialise in two skill areas, whilst also building your confidence in performing these skills as part of a group show.
Each Specialisation Course will end with an informal in house performance and at level 5 a public performance as part of The Adult Programmes’ end of Term performance days.
